Gujjar Bakerwal students protest for Gojri Research Centre in JU

JAMMU, Sept 9: Members of Gujjar Bakerwal Students Welfare Association  (GBSWA) today held a peaceful rally on Jammu University campus to lodge their protest over delay in opening of Gojri Research Centre in JU.
They also announced to observe chain hunger strike from tomorrow on the campus in support of their demand
These students assembled in front of the Central Library and then marched towards the campus main gate in the form of a procession. They were shouting slogans and holding placards in support of their demand for Gojri Research Centre.
Addressing the rally, president of GBSWA, Talib Hussain alleged that the university authorities were deliberately delaying the opening of ‘GRC’ which was approved in 2008 by the JU Council.
He also rejected the Vice-Chancellor’s plea of insufficient funds for opening the Research Centre and said that UGC has given a huge amount under 12th five year plan for the improvement of universities.
Threatening to go on hunger strike, the GBSWA leader appealed all the students and civil society to come in the favour of their genuine cause.  It’s not only the issue of Gojri but every existing culture, civilization, history and every language, he said.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included,  Akram Choudhary, Tazeem Choudhary,  Attaullah Niazi and Altaf Choudhary.
