Gujjar leader’s plea to CM

JAMMU, May 25: Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi the prominent Gujjar leader of the State today urged the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to pass a bill in the coming session of State Legislative Assembly for continuing the promotion of Government employees belonging to S T, SC, OBC classes and resident of backward areas of the State.
Mr. Hakla said that in every sphere of life, reservation is the need of the hour and is a necessity for SCs, STs and OBCs who are economically and socially very backward.
He said in order to uplift their living standard so that they can be at par with other people employees belonging to these communities should be given reservation in promotions.
He said the reservation is a constitutional right to these people and it should continue as the condition of the down-trodden people in the society has not changed as yet and majority of them are living in abject poverty and backwardness even after over six decades of independence.
He said to fulfill the dream of freedom fighters and forefathers of Indian Constitution the State Government should pass a bill in the Assembly for continuance of reservation for future too.
