KATHUA, Dec 30: Maintaining that Gujjar and Bakerwal tribal youth are emerging as a main pressure group in the society with regard to community affairs, the participants of one day Youth Convention today stated that our youth are capable enough to play key role in tribal development and identity building.
The Convention was organized by Gujjar and Bakerwal Youth Forum at Muli-purpose Hall, Government Women Degree College, here.
The programme was presided over by noted Gujjar scholar, Dr Javaid Rahi while Chairman Tribal Committee Chairmen Advocate Talib Hussaain, Gojri writer and researcher KD Chopra, Sheer Ali Banya, Sardar Khan Doi, Haji Farman Ali Khatana, Ch Shafi Khatana and Javed Mian, President of the forum were in the presidium.
Dr Rahi in his presidential address stated that tribal youth are actively working for identity consciousness among Gujjars and Bakerwals and its all-round development. They are capable enough to lead our tribe towards high goals.
He said that our tribe has produced able administrators, IAS, KAS officers, politicians, writers, artists, engineers, doctors and academicians who have shaped Gujjars as vibrant identity of state.
Earlier, the Guests Forum president, Chowdhary Javaid Mian presented welcome address.
He stated that main objective of organising this youth convention at Kathua will be to chalk out a programme for youth awareness among the tribe regarding their rights as tribal.More such programmes are in offing , he said.
Ch. Talib Hussain, Ch Farman Ali and Chowdhary Sadiq, Secretary of the Forum also spoke on the occasion and readout a memorandum to be adopted for tribal youth struggle. Haji Sheer Ali, retired SSP advocated for organizing more such conventions.
Guftar Ali and Shabir Choudhary also spoke on the occasion.
