Gujjars demand political reservation

JAMMU, Dec 4: Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar Federation in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of Shokat Gujjar its president appealed to all political parties to give mandate to the Gujjars candidates as the STs have so far been deprived of political reservation in the State.
Shokat Gujjar while justifying his demand said Gujjars constitute 27 percent of the population of the State and hence they be given political reservations. He said in case the political parties are really interested in granting the reservations to the community they should field Gujjar candidates in the elections.
He said till date the tribal sub plan has not been implemented in the State despite its recommendation for Central Government and Planning Department.
