Gujjars oppose CMP of BJP-PDP, demand political reservation

JAMMU, Mar 6: Alleging that the Gujjars-Bakerwals have been ignored in Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of BJP-PDP Coalition Government, Gujjar Bakerwal Ithad Council (GBIC) has opposed the same and demanded the Government to immediately provide political reservation to the community.
Addressing a press conference here today, GBIC State vice-president, Choudhary Ashraf said “The newly formed Coalition Government has done much injustice with Gujjar Bakerwal Community by ignoring them in formation of Government.
He further added that CMP prepared by Coalition Government is not acceptable to Gujjar community at all. Ashraf also accused the PDP of dividing two communities on ST status.
He said the Coalition Government cancelled the Gujjar Bakerwal Advisory Board by creating Tribal Ministry in J&K, which is a welcome step but community is embarrassed that no room have been given to upliftment of Gujjar Community in CMP of the Government.
Ashraf demanded the State Government to immediately provide political reservation to Gujjar- Bakerwals failing which he said that they would start mass agitation on roads.
The Government has not given a single Cabinet Minister to the community and has excruciated the voters of the community. In ascent encomiastic, Ashraf said that PDP also ignored Gujjar Community in Lower House and did not give a single MLC to the community.
General secretary, GBIC, Saleem Choudhary also condemned the BJP-PDP led Coalition Government for not implementing Forest Act in J&K.
Tazeem Choudhary, Zahid, Shoukat, Shahraz, Sadam Awan and Mumtaz were also present.
