Gunners celebrate 189th Raising Day

UDHAMPUR, Sept 28: Indian Army’s Regiment of Artillery celebrated its 189th Raising Day here today.
The Regiment of Artillery in India was raised on 28 September 1827 with the raising of Bombay Artillery which was later renamed as 5 Bombay Mountain Battery. The day is celebrated by the Regiment of Artillery as the “Gunners Day” to uphold the ethos and spirit enshrined in the motto, “Sarvatra Izzat-O-Iqbal”, everywhere with honour and glory.
To commemorate the day, wreaths were laid at the Dhruva War Memorial on behalf of all Gunners by the senior most serving gunner, Brigadier Kanwaljit Singh.
On the occasion, Lt General DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command called upon the Artillery units deployed in Jammu & Kashmir to maintain the highest standards of excellence.
