UDHAMPUR, Nov 24: Independent candidate from Udhampur, Pawan Gupta toured Thathi, Jib, Rathian, Jojre Talib, Fangial and Om Palace. He appealed people to vote for the sewing machine, his election symbol.
Welcoming several new persons in his team, he said that the strength of a society lies in its unity and that we must stay together in fighting against injustice and corruption. The speakers on this people compared Pawan Gupta to a sewing machine which is stitching a multi-coloured social fabric consisting of people from all sects. He re-iterated his agenda of development. He lamented the poor state of public transport in the city. He said that there are several villages where not even a single matador plies by.
He said that this has hindered the growth of education especially for a girl child in rural areas. He promised to provide public transportation in each village. He also promised to introduce checks and means to review the quality of bus experience for all passengers on a regular basis. He criticized the sitting MLA over his indifference towards such an important public utility.
