Gupta concerned over increasing road accidents

JAMMU, July 5: BSP J&K general secretary and media head, Rajesh Gupta here today claimed that J&K UT administration was responsible for increasing deaths in road accidents in the UT.
In a handout Gupta stated that despite repeated road accidents in J&K the administration seems least bothered.
He referred to the recent incident in Kishtwar wherein an overloaded Eeco Taxi carrying 19 students was found operating in violation of traffic rules.
Gupta said, to ensure road safety and discipline, Traffic Police should take a tough stance against violators.
“Passenger vehicles should be heavily fined for overloading and rash driving while dumpers/tippers and other heavy vehicles also should not be spared for violation,” the BSP leader maintained adding: “J&K witnessed a significant number of fatalities last year due to road accidents marking the highest toll in a decade and now it becomes important to address the issue of road accidents.”
