Gupta decries poor planning, flawed execution of Smart City projects

JAMMU, Nov 5: The provincial NC president, Rattan Lal Gupta here today expressed dissatisfaction with the development efforts under Smart City project in Jammu, asserting that the work has not met expectations of the people.
He criticized the administration for failure to deliver on key aspects that define a Smart City.
In a handout, the NC leader said that roads in Jammu are in deplorable condition with inadequate maintenance and planning that leave citizens frustrated with daily commute issues.
“Streetlights along major roads remain non-functional, creating inconvenience and safety concerns, particularly at night,” he maintained adding that condition of lanes and drains in the city is also very bad.
Gupta further said that public parks are poorly maintained and the much-anticipated Gondola project, intended to boost tourism and local transport options, remains non-functional.
He also resented the hanging sub standard electricity wires and low-lying power transformers scattered across Jammu threatening the safety of the residents.
Gupta urged the government to take immediate and concrete steps toward rectification.
He said that NC under the dynamic leadership of CM Omar Abdullah remains committed to advocate for the rightful development of Jammu.
