Gupta for strengthening security along borders

JAMMU, Aug 10: Strongly pleading for strengthening of the security arrangements along the borders/LoC as also in the militancy infected areas, the former Union Minister of State and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has observed that instead of taking serious note of the detection of a deep and long tunnel in the strategic area of Samba Sector coupled with the increasing incidents of ceasefire violation and attempts by the enemy to push the trained ultras to this side, it was highly intriguing that attempts are being made by certain elements including the ruling leaders to malign the forces and demanding to withdraw their special powers to meet the challenge of the ultras.
Commenting upon the silence of the men in authority, particularly that of the Defence Ministry over the worsening situation with in the troubled Valley of Kashmir as also along the borders, Prof. Gupta said the recovery of tunnel is a matter of grave concern as it tantamount to a sort of aggression on the Indian soil.  In addition the ceasefire violations especially after the visit of Pak-Prime Minister to PoK and declaring their support to the “people of Kashmir for their freedom and rights”, is not without meaning.
Prof. Gupta recalled that during the NDA rule in 2002-03 the armies build up was withdrawn along the borders only after the then Pak ruler, Gen. Musharraf had publically assured that no Pak-controlled territory would not be allowed for terrorist and anti-India activities.  Only after this statement peace had returned on the borders/LoC.  It is a pity that after the change of guards at New Delhi little was done to persue against the problems emanating from Pakistan side.  This failure on part of the Indian authorities is now again leading to many problems including the increasing violation of ceasefire, digging of tunnels, smuggling of seasoning, pushing fake currency and what not that could be done to inflict wounds on the India particularly in this part of the country. He also emphasized the need for setting the house in order in the Valley of Kashmir where the secessionists and some others are raising their ugly head.
