JAMMU, Jan 21: J&K President of National Democratic Party India (NDPI), Rajesh Gupta has claimed that mounting unemployment in J&K should be a matter of serious concern for the Government which should come up with a comprehensive job policy to address the issue.
He also said that rate of unemployment in Kashmir is less than 30 per cent while for Jammu province it is over 69 per cent though Jammu is no way less populous than Kashmir.
“A fair census may put the population of Jammu province at 8 to 10 lakh above as compared to that of Kashmir,” the NDPI leader claimed.
“The level of discrimination with Jammu could be gauged from the fact that NC-Congress coalition Government disbursed a total of Rs 89.44 crore from April 2010-December 31, 2013, of which Kashmir got Rs 69.04 crore and Jammu only Rs 20.40 crore. A total of 1.18 lakh youths were benefited in Kashmir and only 43,070 youths in Jammu were for VSA,” he maintained.
