Gupta kick starts construction of Nallahs in Jammu West

JAMMU, Oct 22: Former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today conducted an extensive tour of Jammu West Assembly segment and took stock of developmental works to be taken over in different wards. Prof Gupta  was especially concerned about the Nallahs flowing through different ward of Jammu West Constituency which cause inconvenience to public and residents during rainy season when water and floods enter into the houses of people.
To resolve the Problem Prof Chaman Lal Gupta started the construction work of Nallah worth Rs. 28 lakh at Bhagwati Nagar Ward No. 14 . The construction of Nallah will cater the flood situation occurring during the monsoons in Bhagwati Nagar and its surrounding areas. An amount of Rs. 7.5 lakh has been released for the first phase of the work on spot by Prof. Gupta. It is worthwhile to mention here that Rs. 15.0 lakh has also been released last year for the same work by MLA.
In Ward No. 33, near AG Office Construction work of Nallah worth Rs. 15 lakh has also been started by  MLA to control the flood situation during the rains.
Furthermore, in Ward No. 12, near J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages the construction work of Nallah worth Rs. 30 lakh has been started by  MLA.
While speaking on the occasion Prof. Gupta said, “Jammu West constituency is largely surrounded by major Nallahs which need to be kept always in a good status to cater the flood situations. The Nallahs near Bhagwati Nagar, AG Office and Cultural Academy are to be repaired and broadened so as to efficiently control the water of other small nallahs flowing into them. The completion of work will give sigh of relief to residents adjacent to these Nallahs which have always been the victims of floods. Similar works are also on pipeline in other wards of Jammu West Constituency, said Prof. Gupta.
