JAMMU, Mar 13: Minister of State for Finance, and Information Technology, Pawan Gupta today chaired a meeting of officers of Urban Local Bodies.
He took a detailed review of the various ongoing developmental works in Udhampur town and directed the concerned authorities to ensure expeditious completion of the works while maintaining proper quality check. He maintained that strict adherence to the norms of master plan is must for a sustainable development while maintaining the ecological balance.
He stressed that a holistic development requires a pragmatic apporach keeping in view the growing population.
The Minister reiterated that Government is commited to provide better and improved civic amenities in urban areas of the state. Enquiring about the ongoing and completed works in the Udhampur town, the Minister instructed the officers for expeditious completion of various developmental works being executed by the department while ensuring proper monitoring and quality on ground and also stressed that there will be zero tolerance for corruption.
Mr Gupta also asked the officers to adopt a rational approach while formulating the new projects, keeping in view the ever increasing population and maintained that these projects should be prepared meticulously.
Underscoring the need for providing better civic amenities to people in urban areas the Minister asked the officers to discharge their duties effectively so that quality municipal services are provided to the people. He also said that all the works in Udhampur town should be executed as per master plan so as to develop Udhampur a model town .
Various issues that were discussed during the meeting include expeditious execution of solid waste management plant Udhampur, sanitation of Udhampur city, installation of high mast lights and street lights in the city, beautification of Udhampur town, besides number of other related issues came up for discussion during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Director Urban Local Bodies K.L Khajuria and senior officers of the department.
