Opting out of Valley parties from Jammu
Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 30: The former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has described quite intriguing the opting out of the poll fray from both the Lok Sabha seats of Jammu region by the major regional mainstream outfits of Kashmir.
This, he said is a serious development which needed due consideration by all the nationalists, both at the State and national level, especially when the leaders of these parties in the Valley were engaged in raising highly contentious slogans and opposing to the banning of the bodies breeding , instrumental in the radicalization and terror making the hell the life in the Valley of Kashmir, which was known as land of saints and sufies.
Prof. Gupta pointed out that in this game of spreading communal tentacles, the NC has extended its open support to the Congress and PDP has chosen the path of backdoor. Thus, both are playing with a design. This needed to be exposed as it has dangerous potentialities, he added.
He said that main reason of the problems in J&K had been the friendship of Jawahar Lal Nehru and Sheikh Mohd Abdullah coupled with their hatred towards Maharaja Hari Singh. This was cashed by forces hostile to India, he added.
It is a matter of history that how Nehru had created conditions for patriotic and secular Maharaja before his signing of the Instrument of Accession and thus, providing legal sanctity to J&K of being an integral part of Indian Union. This great Maharaja was put in exile. His privy purse was made a matter of dispute. And he was made to die in a hospital at Mumbai, far away from people in a sad situation, he added.
Prof. Gupta also recalled that the great visionary Dogra leader, Pt. Prem Nath Dogra who raised his voice against the wrongs being committed by the Congress-NC leadership was arrested and jailed for long eight months without trial in severe winter at Srinagar. He was dubbed as an agent of the Maharaja and dynastic rule. Pandit Ji’s only stand was that the Maharaja should be treated like the princes of other parts of the country.
He said that the blunders committed by Nehru and dubious role played by the certain Kashmir leaders is the root cause of problems with which the people of the State and that of rest of country are faced with for over seven decades now. But it is pity that power hungry politicians have not learnt the lessons from the past wrongs.
About the role of poll spoilers, Prof. Gupta said that these tricks of the main contenders are old ones and many of the electors have come to be mature and such characters did not cut much ice but of course they do create fuss to make their presence felt and spell out rosy slogans.
