JAMMU, Feb 19: President of Jammu State Morcha, Prof Virender Kumar Gupta today urged Governor NN Vohra to make the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Sher-i-Kashmir University for Agricultural Sciences and Technology—Jammu (SKUAST-J), amongst the local qualified, experienced and competent professors/scientists.
He requested the Governor not to go after the outsiders in making the selection for the said post, while knowing the fact that contribution of earlier non local Vice-Chancellors has been very disappointing, as they were involved in misappropriation of funds, scandals and wrong selections or recruitments due to which the progress of the University remained stand still and nepotism and favoritism dominated the University atmosphere.
In the light of this, Jammu State Morcha is of the firm view that the local professionals must be encouraged and one among them be appointed as the Vice- Chancellor of SKUAST-J, he asserted.
