Excelsior Correspondent

KATHUA, June 2: The inhabitants of Gurah Kalyan Panchayat in Billawar are facing acute water scarcity for last 15 days with people not getting even a single drop of water to drink in this hot Summer.
The people have to visit a long distance to fetch the water for daily use which puts them to many hardships.
Virender Singh a local resident told Excelsior that they took the matter with the concerned authorities including SDM and Executive Engineer PHE but to no avail. He said entire water gets leaked through the pipes and it needs only four length pipes to restore the water supply in the area which the authorities of PHE are not willing to do.
He said the PHE Executive Engineer informed them that his office has no funds to lay the pipes and he was unable to help them with the result the people have to remain thirsty till the concerned PHE Department gets funds.
He said in this remote area people have no facilities and they can’t approach the higher authorities, so through the medium of  press they want to appeal the concerned Minster of PHE and Deputy Chief Minster who represents the Constituency to look into the problem.
