JAMMU, Jan 6: Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust reaffirms its solemn faith in service of the Nation at the Annual General Body Meeting here today but regretted that some of its ambitious proposals are getting dust because of bureaucratic indifference.
The members of the General Body of the Trust held threadbare discussion on the last years activities and plan for the current year in the meeting. The AGM was under the chairmanship of founder and Patron-in Chief, Dr Masud Ahmed Chaudhary. The members of General Body expressed their satisfaction on the achievements within the reach of the Trust resources. However, they felt that lot more could have been done with the timely financial support of the Government.
For the last three decades, the Trust has set unprecedented examples in Nation- building through education and activism leading to empowerment and emancipation. However, while noting with regret that stagnation has set in due to lack of attention of the Government. The Trust has urged upon the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, HRD Minister RP Nishank, Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda and the Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of J&K GC Murmu and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam for their personal attention to help accelerate the GDCT activities as a part of ongoing nation- building process.
The members asserted that at this critical juncture the Gujjar community of Jammu & Kashmir is uniquely placed at the intersection of religion, culture and regions, where its members can play a historic role in national building, national integration and enhancing trust between regions and communities. The Trust’s ambitious proposals for setting up of Tribal University, Cultural Heritage and Tribal Research Centres of national excellence are on the table of Government for its support. They said that the Trust has adequate vision, expertise and basic infrastructure to take off these projects of national importance with the financial support of the government.
Masud Chaudhary, while addressing the meeting said that the Trust is the most suitable institution for a national Tribal University of India. He further said that the Trust’s glorious background, infrastructure and location in Jammu make it the ideal case for National Tribal Cultural & Heritage Centre in the Union Territory of J&K.
