JAMMU, Dec 20: District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu today declared that Parkash Utsav (Birthday) of 10th Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji who laid down his own life and sacrificed his father, mother and sons for the sake of humanity is being celebrated on January 5, 2022 with traditional gaiety and fervour and grand `Nagar Kirtan’ will be taken out on January 3 from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar (Lower Gumat), Jammu.
While addressing a press conference, Jagjit Singh, president, DGPC Jammu informed that keeping in mind the restriction of COVID-19, we have curtailed the route of Nagar Kirtan and decided new route. He said Nagar Kirtan will start at 10.00 am from Gurdwara Chand Nagar, marching through Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Asia Hotel, Green Belt Park Gandhi Nagar, Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Road, Gole Market and will culminate at Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu at around 4.00 pm.
DGPC chief further requested that devotees are requested to take precautions and follow SOPs issued for COVID-19, i.e. wear masks, keep distance etc. He further requested the public transport system to extend their cooperation by taking alternate routes to reach their destinations. He also requested all the religious, social organisations, departments concerned and public at large to extend their wholehearted support and cooperation for the smooth procession of religious procession and celebrations of Gurpurab.
He said in Nagar Kirtan devotees in large number will be marching and paying obeisance to the great Guru. Preacher – Bhai Harjinder Singh Majhi, Bhai Harmeet Singh, Makhanpur Wale, Bhai Nirmal Singh Dhadi Jatha, Bibi Davinder Kour, Bhai Sulakhan Singh Arshi, Bhai Balbir Singh Kamal, Bhai Ranjeet Singh Khalsa, Jagadhari Wale will participate in the functions.
On January 5, main function will be held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. He enjoined upon the general public to participate in the functions with traditional gaiety and fervour.
