LG, CM, others attend function in Kashmir

SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Nov 15: The 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety across the Jammu and Kashmir today.
In Kashmir valley, a large function was held at the Gurudwara Chatti Patshahi in the Rainawari area of old Srinagar, where a large number of members of the Sikh community including men, women, and children thronged to pay obeisance on the occasion.
Special prayers were offered for the peace, stability, and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir and the whole of India during the occasion.

The day was celebrated with fervour in other parts of the Valley as well, including Tral, Baramulla, and Pulwama.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said Guruji’s teachings of brotherhood, love, and sacrifice inspire us to lead a righteous life and strengthen the bond of unity.
“May all of us strive to follow his noble teachings & rededicate ourselves to humanity & social equality”, Lt Governor said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended their greetings on the occasion of Gurpurab Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Omar said that Guru Nanak Dev ji’s teachings of compassion, unity, and selfless service continue to inspire people across all communities.
The Chief Minister stated that we should continue to build a society based on mutual harmony, respect, and inclusivity.
The Chief Minister conveyed his best wishes to all celebrating on this occasion and expressed hope that the spirit of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s teachings should continue to foster unity, peace, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, Director General of J&K Police Nalin Prabhat, IGP Kashmir V K Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and several other officers and leaders also extended their greetings to the Sikh community on the occasion.
All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina while extending his greetings on the occasion said that people should follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji so that his message of love and peace percolates down.
At Teetwal near LOC in Kashmir, candle lighting marked the celebration of the Gurpurab at the local Gurdwara.
In Jammu, the 555th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious fervour across the region by the entire Sikh community and other followers of the great Guru.
The main program was organized by the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu at Gurdwara Yaadgar Sri Guru Nanak Sahib, Chand Nagar, Jammu from 10:00 am onwards. A large number of devotees from the Sikh community and other followers of Guru Nanak Dev Ji from different communities participated. The Gurdwara was beautifully decorated, and devotees began visiting early in the morning to seek the Guru Ji’s blessings.
On this occasion, Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Dadehar, a Sikh preacher from Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Ludhiana, spoke on the life and message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, emphasizing his extensive travels to spread the message of peace and love for humanity, selflessness, and belief in brotherhood and equality. Bhai Robin Preet Singh from Sultanpur Lodhi and Ragi Gurdev Singh Hazuri Ragi from Sri Darbar Sahib recited Shabad Kirtan of Gurbani.
Prominent local Ragis of DGPC Jammu, including Bhai Gian Singh, Bhai Harpreet Singh Chohala, and Bhai Rattan Singh, also recited Shabad Kirtan and shed light on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Various preaching organizations and the Health Department set up stalls in the premises of the Gurdwara and Guru Ka Langar was served throughout the day.
Dr Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference, along with Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Forest Minister Javed Rana and Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president, paid obeisance at Chand Nagar Gurdwara at Jammu.
Other prominent political figures from various parties, including JKPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra, working president Raman Bhalla, former minister Yogesh Sawhney, Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Ex-MLC, Vikram Randhawa (MLA), DDC Member TS Tony also paid their respects at the Gurdwara. Karan Singh Wazir, Chairman All J&K Motor Welfare Association along with his team members also participated in the function.
DIG Jammu-Kathua Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, ADC Jammu Ansuyia Jamwal, Vivek Shekhar SP City, Devinder Singh, SDPO City North also visited the Gurdwara and paid their respect to the great Guru.
Ranjeet Singh Tohra, DGPC Jammu chief and other office bearers were also present on the occasion and projected the demands of the community. Similar functions were also held across the JKUT.
