JAMMU, Feb 25: The 636th birthday of Guru Ravi Dass was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the Jammu region today with devotees of Guru organizing religious congregations in Guru Ravi Dass temples.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the people to adopt the teachings of great spiritual saint and Guru Ravi Dass Ji to lead a blissful life, maintaining that Guru Ji’s teachings are most relevant in day to day life when the society is ridden with hatred and intolerance.
Addressing a large gathering of devotees of Guru Ji on the occasion of Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti, at Akhnoor today, the Minister said that Guru Ji throughout his life worked for the upliftment of poor and weaker sections of the society. He described Guru Ji as a great social reformer who tirelessly worked to ameliorate the lot of the downtrodden and under-privileged sections of the society.
Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Akhnoor organized an impressive function at Guru Ravi Dass temple, wherein thousands of devotees from different parts of Akhnoor tehsil participated.
On the occasion of 636th birthday of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj, BJP Anusuchit Jaati Morcha under its President Surinder Bhagat organized a programme at party headquarters. today, where the party and morcha leaders garlanded the portrait of this great saint and spoke on his life.
National executive member & State chief spokesperson, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that it is the cause of the efforts of social reformers like Guru Ravi Dass that the down trodden sections of the society are today an important and indispensable part of the national mainstream of India. He said that the successful struggle through which these down trodden sections have achieved the status of respect in the Indian society is today an inspiration for the so-called upper classes.
State general secretary Kavinder Gupta, Bali Bhagat, Anusushit Jaati Morcha State president Surinder Bhagat, Bansi Lal Bharti, Mohan Singh Chauhan, Balbir Ram Rattan, N.D. Rajwal, Puran Chand Bhagat, J.R. Gupta, Faqir Chand Azad, Bachan Lal Paba, Sham Lal Panjalia, Shamsher Chand Baloon, Raj Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Chand Bhagat, Bansi Lal, Krishan Lal, Ajay Kumar and others also paid their tributes.
Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Party Nationalist (D.P.N) in a function organised by youth wing leader Arun Sanson along with other party leaders today paid glowing tribute to Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj on his 636th Parkash Divas. By remembring Guru Ji teachings they termed him as a pioneer of socialistic pattern of society and want to create a new world based on equality, liberty and fraternity.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj a function was organized by JKNPP at Vijaypur in which the devotees paid obeisance to Guru Ji.
Speaking on the occasion, Pargotra, general secretary of JKNPP said maintaining brotherhood, peace and fraternity was the message of Guru Ji.
At Udhampur the celebrations were held at Gurudwara Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar , Omara Morh in collaboration with 137 CRPF Bn Sher-e- Kashmir Police Academy, Army DGPL along with local Sangat of Udhampur.
On this occasion Akhand Path of Shri Guru Granth Sahib was held. Speakers highlighted the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj.
The birth anniversary of Guru Ravi Dass was also celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm at Guru Ji’s temple Reasi. A Shoba Yatra was also taken out which after passing through main bazaars of reasi culminated in temple premises later. A Satsang was also held and former Minister Babu Jagjivan Lal and Sabha president Hem Raj langeh threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Ji.
The 636th ParkashUtsav of Guru Ravi DassJi Maharaj was celebrated today at Guru Ravi Dass Bhawan, Samba with great religious fervuor and gaiety. On the occasion MLA Samba Yash Pal Kundal was the Chief Guest and Senior NC Leader Satwant Kaur Dogra was guest of honour. The celebrations started with kirtan and devotional songs portraying the life and teachings of Guru Ji.
