JAMMU, Sept 17: Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort Jammu celebrated EV Ramaswani Naicker Jyanti at Shri Guru Ravi Dass Bhawan Bahu Fort, here today.
Dr Vijay Shivgotra, president of Sabha said that Thanthai Periyar E.V Ramasawami Naicker was born on September 17, 1879 in the Erode district of Madras in a rich family of shudra caste.
He said, during his early childhood his playmates mostly were untouchable children, adding that he loved them dearly and had to face the problems for his mixing with these untouchables.
While addressing the gathering, Sham Lal Basson, general secretary of Sabha said that the EV Ramaswami was a great thinker and became untouchable mass leader.
Those who paid tributes included Sham Lal Kalsi, Prof CLShivgotra, Vikas Kalsi, Mangat Ram, Sanjay Kalsi, Rakesh Kumar, Kesar Singh, Suresh Kumar (Rinu), Joginder Kalsi, Rajan Kumar, Sham Lal, CD Shivgotra, Ravi Kumar, ML Banalia and Raj Rattan.
