Guru Ravi Dass Sabha observes Nirvan Divas of Mata Ramabai

JAMMU, May 27: Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort, Jammu alongwith All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch observed 82nd Nirvan Divas of Mata Ramabai Ambedkar wife of Dr B R Ambedkar today in the premises of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Temple Sheikh Nagar Bahu, Fort, Jammu.
Many socio-religious organisations of Scheduled Castes participated in this function. While speaking on this occasion, Sham Lal Basson, President Dalit Chetna Manch, said that Mata Rama Bai Ambedkar was a great lady who scarified her all comforts for Bharat Rattan Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar. She supported Baba Saheb economically socially and morally. Baba Saheb and Mata Rama Bai Ambedkar lost their four children at very tender age only due to poor economic condition of family. Mata Rama Bai Ambedkar was pious and brave lady. She never compromised with her principles.
She co-operated with Baba Saheb to get higher education abroad. She was married to Baba Saheb at the age of 9 year. Baba Saheb was 14 years of age at the time of marriage. Miss Khushi Thappa, Miss Samridhi Bassan, Miss Kriti, Shuvam Basson, Yatin Kalsi, Visharad Kalsi, Paras, and Tarun Kalsi threw light on life and mission of Mata Ramabai and they were honoured with medals.
Dr Vijay Shivgotra presided over the function and extended vote of thanks.
