JAMMU, Mar 28: The Guru Shishya Parampara programme, initiated by the Hari Tara Charitable Trust, which oversees the Amar Mahal Museum & Library and art works to preserve and promote Basohli miniature paintings, has successfully completed the four years.
Launched in March 2021, the initiative helps young artists learn Basohli paintings by providing mentorship and financial support.
As per a statement, State and National Award-winning artist Sohan Singh Billawria plays a key role in mentoring the students under the Guru Shishya Parampara programme.
Martand Singh, Trustee of the Hari Tara Charitable Trust, shared that the program provides financial assistance to both mentors and students, allowing them to focus on the art.
He also emphasized that at a recent art camp for Basohli paintings held at the Amar Mahal Museum during the annual Tawi Festival, he was delighted by the large turnout of the young art students and impressed by their potential.
He also mentioned that, due to the program’s success, the Trust plans to expand its efforts with more art camps and events to encourage more students to take part.
Sohan Singh Billawria highlighted the importance of hands-on training for young artists, and praised the support of the Hari Tara Charitable Trust, founded by Dr Karan Singh in 1970.
He also thanked Dr Jyotsna Singh, Director of Amar Mahal Museum, for her contributions to the program.
