‘Ensure timely redressal of grievances’

JAMMU, Apr 16: Governor Satya Pal Malik today directed the Administrative Secretaries to take strict action against irregularities and corruption under the control of their Departments and called upon them to proceed against those indulging in such activities without any fear or favour.
Malik issued these directions while reviewing working of the Government Departments at a high-level meeting with the Advisors, the Chief Secretary and the Administrative Secretaries.
He directed the Administrative Secretaries that they should take strict action if any irregularities were detected or the officers were found indulging in corruption in the Departments under their control.
“Action should be taken against those responsible for corruption and irregularities without any fear or favour,” the Governor asserted.
Expressing concern over cases pending for disposal of grievances received at the Governor’s Grievance Cell at the Governor’s Secretariat, Malik advised the officers to take stock of grievances pertaining to their departments and ensure timely redressal of complaints through the Nodal Officers of the departments under their control.
Khurshid A. Ganai, Kewal Krishan Sharma and K Skandan- Advisors; BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Umang Narula, Principal Secretary, Administrative Secretaries of various Government departments and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
While reviewing the preparedness of PHE and PDD ahead of summer season, the Governor directed the concerned departments to put in place a dependable mechanism to facilitate adequate electric and water supply to the consumers.
He directed the Health authorities to provide effective healthcare services to the people by ensuring optimum utilization of all the available resources.
Malik advised the Administrative Secretaries to regularly review the functioning of their respective departments and ensure prompt and efficient public service delivery.
The Advisors and Chief Secretary made some valuable suggestions on productive and result-oriented measures for improving efficiency of the departments.
