SRINAGAR, Dec 4: Urging the Governor Satya Pal Malik not to rake up controversial issues till an elected Government is in place in the State, Pradesh Congress Committee vice president and MLC Gulam Nabi Monga today said the Governor should be more careful with his remarks in a sensitive state like J&K.
In a press statement he said, “The Governor’s Administration should not rake up sensitive issues and instead leave them for an elected Government to decide. Governor rule is always a temporary arrangement and Governor administration’s prime focus should be to provide basic governance to the people.”
“Over the past four years, the people in the State have suffered a lot due to the incompetence and mismanagement of the BJP Government. Every now and then, new controversies were created. Instead of working for the development of the State, BJP and PDP wasted time in raking up one after other controversy during there more than three-year alliance. And now, it seems same is being repeated during the Governor rule. People of Jammu and Kashmir are paying heavy price for the failed policies of BJP Government,” Monga said.
He warned the BJP that Congress as a responsible opposition will not allow it to replay the drama in J&K. “The economy of the State has gone from bad to worse during last few years and unemployment has risen to alarming proportions. Daily-wagers and casual labourers are without wages while bills of contractors worth crores are pending. The power supply situation has deteriorated in Kashmir. The Governor administration should focus on these issues instead of inventing new problems for the people,” Monga said.
Accusing the BJP of vitiating peace in the State by unveiling its communal agenda, he said the Saffron Party is trying to divide the society on communal lines to get political advantage. He alleged that the State has been polarised due to the communal politics played by the BJP over the last four years.
