Guv urged for disbursement of wages to daily rated workers

JAMMU, Sept 27: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed Governor’s administration to ensure timely disbursement of long pending wages of thousands of daily rated workers working in various departments of the State Government.
“The helpless community of daily rated workers is on the verge of collapse as neither they have been paid salaries regularly to look after their families nor they are in a position to educate their children and provide medicare,” NMC president, Subhash Shastri said while addressing workers’ rally here.
Shastri also said that the daily rated workers are preoccupied with uncertainties despite the most valuable public service and there is no way for them to celebrate the upcoming festivals without their long pending wages being paid to them.
He further hoped that as Governor Satya Pal Malik has resolved issues facing salaried class of State, the issue of daily rated workers as regards their regularization and other benefits will also get resolved.
“The State Government should earmark separate wage heads for regularly disbursement of monthly wages of these daily rated workers till their regularization,” Shastri added.
Removal of all pay anomalies of clerical cadre, enhancing wages of daily rated workers from Rs 225 to Rs 500 per day, strict implementation of SRO 520 with proper amendment, besides issuance of order of 180 daily rated workers working in rural development department Jammu were other demands highlighted in the rally.
