SAMBA, May 17: To empower students by providing a vibrant platform to learn and share knowledge, Government Degree College Samba has established a Gyan Vatika- Book Reading Club in the College Campus.
District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma inaugurated the vital facility also marked by screening of documentary on Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
In his address, Abhishek Sharma emphasized that the “Gyan Vatika” will play a pivotal role in enhancing the creative instincts in the students. He exhorted that this Club shall boost the intellectual growth of students and inculcates the fashion of reading and discussing books and genres among the students.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and enumerated that the idea behind creation of Gyan Vatika is to promote book reading amongst the young learners and create a vibrant community of readers, poets and thinkers in the campus.
The creation of Gyan Vatika (Garden of knowledge) evokes a sense of relaxation and serenity and implies a place where book lovers can gather and explore literature together. Gyan Vatika aims to fashion a vibrant platform where book enthusiasts can share knowledge, ideas, and literary enjoyment over insightful discussions while fostering personal and collective growth. Gyan Vatika highlights fortnightly activities such as Book Talks, Author Spotlights, Genre Exploration, Guest Speakers, Lit Quiz, Book Swaps, Film clips etc.
