JAMMU, Apr 16: The first-ever Gyanotsav Festival was held on April 15, 2023, at the Brigadier Rajendra Singh Auditorium in the University of Jammu, Jammu.
The festival was organized under the aegis of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Province, and over 300 dignitaries attended the event.
The festival aimed to promote traditional knowledge and practices, especially in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. Over 200 students from different schools actively participated in the event.
The festival began with a registration and exhibition program at 9.30 am, where traditional daily items of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh were displayed.
The guests inaugurated the festival by lighting the traditional lamp. The stage was moderated by Dr Akshay, and several dignitaries, including Dr Jasbir Singh, Prof Satinder, Bhai Jagram, Prof Parikshit Manhas, Prof Naresh Padha, Prof Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari, Atul Bhai Kothari, and Dr Gautam Menghi, registered their presence at the ceremony.
During the ceremony, the speakers discussed the importance of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its potential to transform India’s education system. Prof Satinder laid out the outline of the ceremony, while Bhai Jagram presented the concept of Gyanotsav, emphasizing the need for changes in the education system to make it more compassionate and self-reliant.
Prof Naresh Padha and Prof Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari highlighted the importance of the NEP 2020 in strengthening the skills of students, motivating them to do better on social and economic fronts, and making them self-reliant.
Dr Atul Bhai Kothari emphasized the need to make education enjoyable and holistic. He taught an experiment to the students, emphasizing the power of meditation by Om. He described NEP 2020 as holistic and India-centric, providing flexibility in study credits that help students grow in a holistic manner.
In the second session, the speakers discussed the importance of character building and self-reliance in building a better India.
In the third session, Dr Gurudev spoke about the role of technical education in achieving self-reliant India.
In her presidential address, Dr Usha Tiku emphasized the democratization of social, moral, and intellectual ethos. She encouraged people to identify the evils of society and work towards eradicating them.
