JAMMU, Feb 5: With a focus on maternal mortality and the issues related to women’s health, world’s biggest Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Federation of Societies of India ( FOGSI) is going to organize national level three-day Yuva FOGSI at Srinagar on April 17-19.
During the three-day event, hundreds of Gynaecological experts from across the country will thoroughly deliberate on the issues of women’s health vis-a- vis advancements in the Gynaecological laparoscopy, Urogynaecology, etc.
This was informed by Dr Prakash Trivedi, new president of FOGSI, during an informal chat with the Excelsior.
“Besides discussion on the need for top most facilities, instruments and team of doctors for women health in J&K, there will be workshops on Sonography, advanced treatment in Urine leak, bleeding and other problems,” added Dr Prakash Trivedi, who is himself a pioneer in Gynaecological Laparoscopy & a renowned Urogynaecologist from Mumbai.
While elaborating more on agenda of the FOGSI, the newly installed president said that the organization’s theme for the year 2015 is “Minimal Access Maximal Care” reaching at the doorstep and “Pregnancy in high risk mother”.
“The FOGSI teams will organize workshops for training on new and better treatment for female patients besides concentrating on identifying and taking care of the high risk mother to reduce morbidity and mortality,” he explained.
The FOGSI 2015 team with Dr Trivedi as president and Dr H D Pai as secretary general has a force of 50 committed workers supported by 229 Societies.
“Throughout the year, there will be one event per month in different parts of India, for Yuva (young) to senior Gynaecologists on the subjects related to women health and more particularly on the identified themes for this year,” he added.
Maintaining that FOGSI has collaboration with the Government for women’s health, maternal mortality and infant mortality, Dr Trivedi was of the opinion that the Government should use the force of 30000 plus Gynaecologist of India in handling women’s health.
Dr Trivedi, who has conducted a record number of successful Gynaecological Laparoscopies, said that pathologies like chocolate ovarian cyst-Endometrioma, fibroids, peritubal adhesions can be corrected by laparoscopic surgery with 1-2 day stay and back to work in 2-3 days. “Large fibroids, multiple fibroids hindering Infertility can also be easily treated by laparoscopy or hysteroscopy with fast recovery,” he added.
Dr Trivedi also threw light on advanced treatment for the problems related to menopause, urine leak, etc.
Dr Prakash Harikant Trivedi is also Director of National Institute of Laser & Endoscopic Surgery (NILES) and AAKAR IVF Centre, Mumbai. He was Professor and Head of Ob Gyn Rajawadi Municipal Hospital, Mumbai.
He is also president IAGE (Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy).
Dr Trivedi has so far done more than 30,000 female endoscopic surgeries for removal of Uterus Fibroid Ovarian cysts, around 1500 urine leak surgeries and 3000 ART cycles.
