JAMMU, Jan 14: A habitual drug peddler and three other persons were arrested with 5 grams of heroin from Roop Nagar area here today.
Mahaveer Singh of Ranjitpura Camp, Talab Tillo, Jammu, and his three associates identified as Nitan Goria of Kanachak, Jammu, Amritpal Singh of Model Town, Gangyal, Jammu, and Shall Sharma, were arrested by a team of Police Station Janipur when they were consuming the drugs in the bushes at Roop Nagar area, said a police official.
While heroin was recovered from the possession of Mahaveer Aluminium foils and other items were recovered from the possession of other accused persons, he said.
During preliminary investigation, the police official said that it came to fore that the accused Mahaveer was selling narcotics from the last many years for illegal profit generation.
He, along with other three persons were accordingly booked in case FIR number 05/2025 under the relevant sections of the law registered at Police Station Janipur and further investigation set into motion , the police official added.
Pertinently, this was the fifth FIR registered against Mahaveer alias Abbu under the NDPS Act as he is notorious for selling drugs among the youth for illicit gains.
The arrests and seizure were made by a team of Police Station Janipur led by SHO concerned Inspector Vikram Sharma under the supervision of SDPO City West Dr Satish Bhardwaj and SP City North Vivek Shekhar.
