Hailstorm damages crops in Khag

Srinagar, Oct 5: A devastating hailstorm has wrought havoc upon the agricultural landscape of the Khag area of Budgam district, leaving nearly 40 percent of paddy and maize crops severely damaged.
This extreme weather event struck the upper areas of the region just as farmers were on the cusp of harvesting their crops. The diligent efforts invested in nurturing these crops were abruptly erased by the destructive force of the hailstorm.
The aftermath of the hailstorm, which occurred last week, paints a grim picture for the approximately 20 villages in the area that heavily rely on agriculture for their sustenance. “Our once flourishing fields, brimming with the promise of a bountiful harvest, now lie in ruins. The hailstorm descended upon us like a curse, damaging nearly half of our paddy and maize crops. It is a big blow to our livelihoods.” One local resident said.
