LEH, Oct 1: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kargil unit, under the leadership of Haji Anayat Ali, (Chairman J&K Legislative Council) called on General (Retd) Vijay Kumar Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, here today at Leh.
The delegation on behalf of the people of Ladakh region, expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for the sanctioning of the Zojila Tunnel NH1D, declaration of Kishtwar – Panikhar road as National Highway and Rs 42.22 crore which has been sanctioned under Center Road Funds (CRF) to complete various projects in Ladakh.
Mohd Ali Majaz, President BJP Unit Kargil, said that approval of Zojila tunnel and inclusion of Kargil Airport in UDAN Scheme is the biggest example of the inclusive policy of the Government as enshrined in the slogan “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas”
The delegation took up the matter of release of funds for road projects under Center Road Funds (CRF) Scheme in Kargil District from NH1D to Archoo Choskore (21 kilometers) coming at an estimated cost of Rs 24.08 crore and widening/up gradation of road connecting Broglungma Wakha, Sherling Wakha, Charaks Khangral, Kuktsay and 23.30 kilometers link road connecting Tumail, Gronyur Grong and Lungma Broq, coming at an estimated cost of Rs 42.22 crore, sanctioned by Central Government in the year 2017.
General VK Singh said that it’s a major achievement for the country in general and the people of Kargil and Leh in particular that the longest bi-directional tunnel in Asia is to be completed in a span of seven years at an estimated cost of Rs 6089 crore. The minister said he is pleased that he has been able to serve the people of the nation and would visit the region very soon.
Others present on the occasion, included Councilor Moshin Ali and Mohd Hassan Pasha, Sate Vice President BJYM J&K.
