Hakla seeks PM’s intervention on reservations to SC, ST employees

POONCH  Dec 19:  Shamsher Hakla Poonchi a prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual  today made an appeal to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to direct Chief Minister of J&K to pass a bill in the coming session of State Legislative Assembly for continuing reservation in promotion for the State Government employees belonging to ST, SC and OBC categories.
Hakla in a statement said that in every sphere of life reservation is the need of the hour and is a necessary for the people belonging to ST, SC and OBC categories.” In order to keep them at par with people belonging to upper castes, their reservation in promotion is an essential requirement” he added.
Hakla said that even after 25 years of granting ST status to the Gujjar and Bakerwal community by Government of India, the people of the community are deprived of full benefits of it with the result the Gujjar and Bakerwal community of the State is still socially, educationally economically and politically backward.
Hakla said that all the efforts made by  GoI for the development and welfare of Gujjar and Bakerwal community of J&K, have been deliberately obstructed by the State Government till date which resulted in their utter backwardness.
