Hand embroidery certificate course concludes at SPPND GDC Samba

SAMBA, Dec 14: SPPND Government Degree College, Samba, successfully concluded a 10-day Hand Embroidery Certificate Course (Aari Work) from December 4 to December 14, 2024. Organized as a part of the College’s commitment to skill development-a key institutional best practice-the programme aimed to blend creativity with cultural heritage. Guided by expert trainers Ritu Gupta and Arun Gupta from the Dogre Well Wishers Foundation, 38 students gained hands-on experience in traditional embroidery techniques such as sequence work and beadwork.
The course, a collaboration between the IQAC and the Department of Home Science, was coordinated by Dr. Banpreet Kour (IQAC Coordinator) and Dr. Ramandeep Kour (HoD, Home Science). Principal Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri lauded the initiative, emphasizing its role in connecting students with traditional craftsmanship while fostering innovation and creativity. Participants expressed enthusiasm for applying their newfound skills, reflecting the programme’s success in preserving and promoting artisanal crafts in modern times.
