Handloom Coop Societies Federation lists demands

JAMMU, Jan 14: Handloom Cooperative Societies Federation of Jammu province projected several burning issues of the societies of the region here today.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rakesh Sharma president of the Federation strongly demanded opening of the office of Assistant Director, Weaver Service Centre at Jammu and providing financial assistance to the sick societies of the region. He demanded that a representative of Jammu Province Handloom Co-operative Societies be included as member while implementing major decision relating to handloom sector.
He said that the Urban Hatt built by Ministry of Textiles (GOI) for display-cum-marketing of Handloom and Handicraft goods should be made a permanent venue for these societies. Moreover, Tourism Department should promote this venue of Urban Hatt among the tourists pouring into this State.
Mr Sharma further demanded that various schemes of NABARD should be implemented in the State in order to revive the sick societies. Sick Societies be given financial aid and the election of the Jammu Handloom Market Association which is due since long be held without any delay. National Handloom Expo be held in all the States for the marketing support, procedure of counter signing of cheques by ADs, Handloom be stopped and cluster/ group approach scheme should be implemented in every district of the State.
General secretary Romesh Chander Verma, Isher Dass chairman of Nagrota Preta Basohli and Zakir Hussain general secretary (Adm) were also present.
