Hanjura appointed SC Registrar

JAMMU, Aug 17: Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua, M K Hanjura has been appointed as Registrar of Supreme Court of India. He is the first Judicial Officer from Jammu and Kashmir to occupy this post.
According to the order issued by Ravindra Maithani, Secretary General of Supreme Court of India, Chief Justice of India has been pleased to appoint Maharaj Krishan Hanjura as Registrar of Supreme Court of India on deputation basis initially period of one year.
M K Hanjura belongs to tehsil Chadoora district Budgam. He completed his graduation in Arts and LLB (Hons) from University of Kashmir and enrolled as pleader in the year 1980.
He practised law up to the year 1987 when he was appointed as Munsiff. He was promoted as Sub-Judge in November 1996 and appointed as District and Sessions Judge in March 2003.
After appointment as District and Sessions Judge, M K Hanjura was posted Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu and he decided some important and sensitive matters including the much publicized Birpur land scam in which he awarded imprisonment to the then Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and private persons.
He was inducted into the Selection Scale in September 2009. Presently, he is functioning as Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua. He has distinction of serving in segments of Registry of the J&K High Court. He has already worked in the Supreme Court for an year.
