JAMMU, Dec 26: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today ordered constitution of a committee to look into the issues of agriculture department.
The Minister ordered this while addressing one day convention organized by Dr Surinder Radotra, State President, Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association (JKATA).
The committee would be headed by Commissioner Secretary with Director Agriculture Jammu and Kashmir and other officers as its members, the Minister stated.
He added that employees are the backbone of the department and present Government headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has taken number of pro employee decisions like regularization of around 2600 Rehber-e-Zirat employees, who are working in the department for years.
Minister emphasized the employees to create awareness among the farmers about various schemes initiated by State and Centre Government for their welfare. He directed the concerned officials to conduct regular field visits so that farmers can avail benefits of the schemes.
Hanjura emphasized the need to introduce technological innovations in agriculture by the department to help and support farmers to further raise their productivity.
Director Agriculture Jammu HK Razdan said that triple cropping has been started by the farmers in various areas of Jammu region which will untimely help the Government to achieve the target of doubling the farmers income by 2022.
Director Agriculture Kashmir Altaf Ajaz Andrabi said that Department of Agriculture has initiated number of pro farmers schemes and expressed hope that Saffron Mission will show positive results in coming years.
