Hanjura lays foundation of road projects worth Rs 12.93 cr in Budgam

Hanjura-25BUDGAM, Dec 25: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, on Sunday laid foundation for various road projects including Zeohama-Babgund road, Loolipora-Banjarwani and Kakwareng-Chrawni roads in Chrari-e-Sharief constituency.

Addressing a large public gathering at Loolipora village after kick-starting work for various road projects, the Minister said that Rs 12.93 crore would be spent on construction of these roads measuring a total length of 14.40 km under PMGSY.

Reiterating the commitment of the Government to provide improved and better amenities to people, the Minister said that the Government headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is determined to provide an enhanced road network in the state with emphasis on remote and hilly areas. He said adequate funds have been released under various sectors like PHE, PDD, RDD, Health, R&B and Education for Budgam district and we are keen to utilize these judiciously for expeditious completion of key projects.

Referring to the developmental works under execution in Chrar-e-Sharief Constituency, the Minister said that a road network programme has been framed to connect every habitation of this area with the main towns besides several developmental works under different sectors are in pipeline to make the Constituency a model.

The Minister asked the district administration to work with dedication and give focused attention to completion of all developmental projects under execution in the district. He also asked the officers to conceive development projects in such a way that the same are completed within the set time-frame to avoid cost overrun.

Responding to the demands put forth by the locals, the Minister said that the Government is alive of people’s problems and committed to resolve the genuine demands of the people in a phased manner. He said that the directions have already been given to the district administration to be vibrant and proactive in resolving the people’s problem.

District Development Commissioner, Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad and other senior officers of district administration accompanied the Minister during his tour.
