NEW DELHI, Apr 28: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura met Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh here today to discuss various schemes and specialized projects of agriculture sector.
The Minister interacted on different components and missions of agriculture under implementation in Jammu and Kashmir including Sub-Mission on Seeds & Planting Materials (SMSP), Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanization (SMAM), Purchase of Specialized Transport Vehicles, Special Projects for creation of irrigation facilities and enhancement of allocation under National Food Security Mission (NFSM).
The huge potential and demand of Bore Wells, Water Harvesting Tanks, Shallow Bore Wells, Community Bore wells and Micro-Irrigation Projects for creation of irrigation infrastructure in the State also came up during the discussions. The special projects for formation of Farmers Producer Organization (FPOs) and Biogas Units with improvised digesters already stand submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture, GoI.
The Union Agriculture Minister assured that the maximum possible allocation will be made under various projects of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) for the benefit of the farmers of the state.
The issue of crop damages due to recent unseasonal heavy rains and hailstorms also came under discussion for which the Union Minister assured that the Government of India will provide all possible assistance to the state government for relief and compensation to the affected farmers as per revised National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) norms.
Director Agriculture Jammu, Dr. S. S. Jamwal, Director Command Area Development, Jammu, H. K. Sharma and other senior officers were also accompanying the Agriculture Minister to participate in the meeting on various schemes and projects of agriculture at New Delhi
