Haq asks prosecutors to improve proficiency to bring cases to logical conclusion

Jammu, May 1:  Aiming at improving the quality of prosecution and trial in the courts and for the logical conclusion of criminal cases, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan convened a meeting of officers of prosecuting wing of Jammu division.
Among others,  the meeting was attended by Advocate General D C Raina, DGP K Rajendra Kumar, IGP Jammu Danish Rana, Secretary Law Mohammad Ashraf  Mir, Director Prosecution Police Head quarters Pawan Gupta , Chief Prosecuting Officers, Prosecuting  Officers and Additional Prosecuting Officers.
The Minister while taking   District wise review of the criminal cases pending before different courts directed the prosecutors to prepare monthly report in prescribed performa which will be constantly monitored by the Government. He gave clear cut instructions that there should no delay in submission of judgment to the Law Department for examination so that decision for challenging the same is taken in a time bound manner. He also instructed Chief Prosecuting Officers to properly monitor the investigation and trial of criminal cases so that same are prosecuted in a proper manner before the court of law.
Underscoring the importance of proper enforcement of rule of law and punishment to criminals to make the society crime free Haq asked the Prosecuting Officers (Public Prosecutors), to examine the key witnesses in such cases to ensure that no injustice is meted out to the victims and prosecution wing of the department has an important role in this regard.
He also asked the prosecutors to improve their proficiency and keep themselves updated to bring the cases to their logical conclusion. The Minister also directed Law Department to establish a cell for monitoring of working of the Public Prosecutors.
Responding to the issue of   hardships and difficulties faced by the officers, the minister assured that all efforts will be taken to create a conducive atmosphere for the officers in the department so that they are able to work in a free and neutral manner, adding that requisite measures will be put in place to strengthen the institutional mechanism.
