Haq inaugurates Law Deptt’s renovated library

JAMMU, Nov 6: Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today inaugurated the renovated library of the Department of Law here at Civil Secretariat.
The renovation included updating of e-library that would make available court judgments at the click of the button.
Law Secretary Abdul Majeed Bhat, Additional Law Secretary Achal Sethi and other senior officers of the Law Department were also present at the inaugural function.
The Law Minister said with the updating of library especially the e library, law officers, attorneys and other legal officers will be able to update their knowledge with new judgments of any court of the country including High Courts and the Supreme Court. He said the updated facility will help them in proper examination of cases that would lead to early deliverance of justice.
He said the manual browsing of books for research on a case was a time consuming process and the availability of e-resources in the form of e-books and special software available online will help in getting the most recent judgments of Supreme Court and High Courts.  “It will be easy for the lawyers of the Government to research and update their knowledge. The e-library will act as a major tool to attain qualitative change in grievance redressal system and a powerful force of democracy”, he asserted.
The Law Minister said that the updated e-library would make available judgments at the click of the button and the lawyers can get a printout of any judgment they need for ready reference.
Meanwhile, the Minister directed the officials to switch over to digital world and called for digitization of records. He said the advent of new technology has made it imperative to switch over to digital system for making things easier for the public.
He also assured all possible assistance for further upgrading of the library. He asked the concerned officers to explore the possibility of creating  more space for the library.
