Harbans Maini passes away

JAMMU, Feb 28: Prominent engineer, Harbans Lal Maini passed away today in a Jammu Hospital.
He was 88. He is survived by his wife and 3 daughters. The cremation will take place tomorrow at 2 PM at Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground.
Harbans Lal had sudden severe brain hemorrhage early yesterday morning at his residence after he was taken to ASCOMS & Hospital, Sidhra. Since yesterday he was on ventilator and today at about 3:30 PM, he passed away.
Maini is popularly known due to his role in the making of illustrious projects such as Abhinav Theatre, New Secretariat building, Government Medical College Jammu, Zorawar Auditorium and the Shrine Board University Katra.
He served at many posts in different departments including JKPCC, JKTDC, Agro Industries, J&K Housing Board. After his retirement as Chief Engineer JKPCC in 1985, he served as Chairman of Citizen Co-operative Bank, Member of Public Service Commission and as also an Advisor to Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Vaishno Devi University and University of Jammu. He was also associated with the ASCOMS Hosital at Sidhra as a patron.
