UDHAMPUR, Mar 23: A hardcore criminal was detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act 1988 by Police here today.
A police spokesperson said that Vikas Sharma alias Psycho of Krimchi Mansar, Himdra, Udhampur, was a history-sheeter as seven FIRs were registered against the accused under different sections of the law at separate police stations.
A detention order against the accused was issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu with the approval of the Home Department on the basis of a report prepared by the police in the town, he said.
Acting on the specific information about the criminal, he was detained today by a team of Police Station Udhampur led by SHO Raghubir Singh and accordingly lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
In a statement, SSP Udhampur Joginder Singh, said that police have adopted a zero tolerance towards the criminals.
“Such actions against the criminals would continue in future as well,” he said.
