UDHAMPUR, Dec 11: A hardcore drug peddler and main supplier of narcotics to youth, Rakesh Kumar alias Raku, son of Nek Ram of Sallian Talab, Udhampur has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Sargun Shukla said that the narcotics smuggler was a habitual criminal and had been arrested number of times in different cases of heinous nature, including narcotics, attempt to murder besides other criminal cases.
A dossier with regard to his criminal activities was prepared and submitted before District Magistrate, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib, who after careful consideration issued orders of his detention under Public Safety Act. Udhampur Police executed the warrant for detention under Public Safety Act.
Pertinent to mention that the Udhampur Police has already booked three narcotic smugglers namely Hamraz Singh alias Tiger, son of Surinder Singh of Barrian, Akhilesh Sharma alias Leshi, son of Vipan Kumar of ward number 2, Udhampur and Sahil Dogra son of Late Madan Lal of Baryal, Udhampur for detention under Public Safety Act during current year.
Meanwhile, Police Station Udhampur today arrested a drug peddlers from Omara Morh and recovered five grams of contraband substance Heroin from his possession.
The accused was identified as Umar Jaan, son of Amam Din of Mani, Tehsil Rammagar, Udhampur. In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
