Srinagar, Apr 20: Legal Metrology Department today booked a hardware dealer for overcharging here in Bemina area on city outskirts.
A spokesman of the Department said here that a respectable citizen loged a complaint against a local hardware dealer in the Bemina for selling him hardware items which do not carry mandatory declaration of MRP(Max Retail Price), net-contents, date of manufacture, address of manufacturer and consumer grievance cell number
“A team of officers of Legal Metrology Department raided the premises of the retail-outlet and found the complaint genuine. A case was registered against the retail dealer for the lapse. The dealer was asked to provide the bills of the manufacturer so that the manufacturing unit as well as wholesale dealer may be also booked,” he said,
In absence of MRP on the package of hardware, the spokesman said, there is every apprehension that a consumer can be over-charged. “The field executives of Legal Metrology Srinagar in a routine inspection have already booked a Jammu based hardware firm for not carrying mandatory declarations as per the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011,” he added.
