Harsh urges EC for probe into poll frauds

JAMMU, July 31: Seeking impartial probe into the complaints of massive irregularities and bunglings and rigging in the conduct of DDC polls held in district Udhampur in December 2020, NPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh has expressed the hope that State Election Commissioner would ensure that Justice prevails.
Singh disclosed that the complaint against the massive rigging and other malpractices in DDC elections of District Udhampur had been lodged with CBI by the Panthers Party on June 15, 2021. The said complaint has been transferred by CBI to State Election Commissioner. The CBI has further sent a communiqué to the Panthers Party informing it that the “enquiry/investigation in the complaint is being forwarded” to the State Election Commissioner for taking requisite action.
Speaking to media persons, Singh maintained that not only were the complaints made by NPP to District Udhampur authorities during and after the said elections disregarded, but the Election machinery was seen openly promoting the ruling party candidates and allowing them to brazenly use the administrative paraphernalia in furtherance of their electoral prospects. He said that aggrieved by the highly apathetic approach of the District authorities towards NPP, the party leadership had decided to legally pursue the matter by firstly moving an RTI application.
