JAMMU, Apr 7: JKNPP chairman and former Minister Harshdev Singh today accused the BJP of surrendering before the whims of its coalition partner and taking a U-turn on its agenda.
“Despite startling revelations on three different subjects relating to national security and compromise on national interests, it is shocking to note that no reaction emanated from any of the parties especially the Saffron brigade which has all along been indulging in jingoistic harangues and rhetorical overtures while in opposition,” he observed while addressing a gathering of party activists and various delegations who called on him today.
Harshdev Singh regretted that the BJP, which has always been on the forefront of protests on any issue of compromise with national security, chose to keep mum when the reply pertaining to un-authorized and illegal entry of 1253 people from Pakistan and PoJK via Nepal border was tabled in the legislature yesterday. “Not a word of contradiction or opposition was raised by any of the members of any of the parties with only demands for rehabilitation of surrendered militants being raised in the Legislative council,” he said.
Likewise, Mr Singh added, the issue of huge expenditure on provision of security, transport, accommodation and other comforts to separatists, anti-nationals and pro Pak leaders also failed to elicit any response from the BJP legislators. “It is highly intriguing to note that more than Rs 506 crore have been incurred on separatists, pro Pak activists and militants who splurge on security cover, residential guards, security vehicles, free fuel, hotels, free accommodation on State expense, more so in a Government partnered by BJP,” he said.
The JKNPP leader regretted that the widows, physically challenged and other marginalized sections are being deprived of their pensions, wages and honorarium whereas the separatists are being persistently nurtured and groomed without any cry of the so called financial constraints.
