JAMMU,  Nov 12:  Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and former  Minister Harshdev Singh submitted a memorandum to the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister in New Delhi, seeking the establishment of a full- fledged satellite Duggar channel in Jammu.
The NPP leader pleaded that the people of Jammu had pinned high hopes in the Nov 7, visit of the Prime Minister and expected a formal announcement in this regard but regretfully nothing of the sort happened. “We therefore, feel constrained to re-iterate our demand for a full fledged Satellite Duggar channel  which is persistently being projected by various social, cultural and literary organizations for the last several years but unfortunately has gone unaddressed and unattended. The assurances given by successive Govts. in the past on the subject have proved to be mere hyperboles. The demand is most genuine and deserves priority consideration of the Govt so as to project and promote the rich culture and heritage of Jammu region. While the operationlization of Kashir channel by DD Kashmir is welcome, the denial of Dugger Channel for Jammu is deplorable,” Singh said.
The NPP leader pointed out that the credit to raise J&K State goes to Dogras. Many Dogra warriors have laid down their lives for the glory of their motherland. Majority of  Dogras have joined armed forces and are fighting for the defense of our land. It will also be a tribute to the valiant Dogra soldiers and warriors who have made countless sacrifices with their great conquests in the Himalayan region extending up to Tibet.
‘Duggar Channel’ if operationalied would cater to estimated 32,200 Sq Kms of area besides vast area of Himachal as well as huge population on the other side of  LoC. On the contrary, Kashir Channel is catering to only around 22,200 Sq Kms. Further, even the sister languages like Gojri, Mirpuri, Punjabi, Pahari, Poonchi and Bhaderwahi will also get a boost if Duggar Channel is made functional.
