Jammu, July 7: Hard-hitting Hindi satire ‘Hawalaat’, written by famous playwright Sarweshwar Dayal Saxena and directed by Neeraj Kant was presented here today at Natrang Studio Theatre in Sunday Theatre Series.
It was satire on the establishment which has failed to tap the most energetic human resource of the country. The cry of dejected youth has been beautifully portrayed in the play which speaks loudly about the maltreatment being given by the establishment to the youth of this country.
The story of the play ‘Hawalaat’ revolves around three youth who have no place to live. It was the coldest night of the winter and they were without food and shelter. Since nobody was ready to offer them the shelter, they thought it proper to have the same in a police lock-up. For this they approached a police cop as criminals. For some time the cop is not ready to believe in them and asks them to establish their credentials by demonstrating their expertise in crime and past accomplishments. They try to convince him by giving series of logics. To avoid them, the cop agrees to take them to the lock-up (Hawalaat) after tying their eyes. Instead of taking them to the Police station, the cop keeps them taking round and round at one cross road and finally leaves at the place from where they had started. The play is a big satire on the exploitation of the youth by the present system.
Mohit Sharma as police cop portrayed the complex character, Rahul Singh, Mohd. Yaseen and Ashwani Bali as three young men played their roles impressively. The music of the play was operated by Uplaksh Singh Kotwal.
