Narwal Sabzi Mandi has become a serious health hazard owing to unscientific disposal of biodegradable waste. Vegetables and fruits are perishable items and once these perish, the waste has to be disposed of scientifically so that it does not prove health hazard. The practice in vogue today is to burn the degradable waste somewhere nearby which emits columns of smoke and absolutely pollutes the air. Authorities do not own responsibility of taking care of the waste but are just passing the buck from one department or one agency to another agency. In the process, public health is at stake.
We strongly implore all the concerned authorities to accept the responsibility and address this public issue.
